to the Lord of the Manor surrender of 1843 when Yew Tree Cottage was passed on to his son Matthew. He was earlier described as a Grocer in the 1813 Baptismal Record of his daughter Mary Anna.
Before he moved to Yew Tree Cottage he owned a house and some land nearer to Bridport. Between Lambrook and Wooth, at the Eastern end of Ash Lane, he had a House, Garden, Outbuildings, Pasture and Orchards called Collingdon. The house that stands on the plot now is called Summerfields. The whole lot was put up for auction in April 1849.
