Will of Mary Prior (1883)

This is the last Will and Testament of me Mary Prior of Netherbury in the County of Dorset, Spinster. I revoke all Wills by me at any time herefore made.

I give to my Niece, Sarah Jane Prior, my Bed and bedding and bed clothes.

I give to my said Niece and to my Nieces Louisa Joy, Harriet Crabb and Hannah Kenway my wearing apparel equally between them.

All the rest, residue and remainder of my personal Estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever I give and bequeath to Henry Saunders Edwards of Misterton in the County of Somerset, Manufacturer out of business. Upon trust, subject to the payment of my debts, funeral and testamentary expenses to divide the same equally between my Nephews John Prior, Samuel Prior, George Prior, Esau Prior, Harry Prior and Albert Prio,r my said four Nieces Sarah Jane Prior, Louisa Joy, Harriet Crabb, and Hannah Kenway and Prior the widow of my deceased Nephew William Prior.

But with respect to the share of my said Nephew Albert Prior I direct that if, at the time of my decease, he shall be an inmate of the Forston or any other Lunatic Asylum the share so given to him shall be divided between his Brothers Esau and Harry and his Sister Sarah Jane in equal shares. And I bequeath them the same accordingly and direct the bequest to him shall be revoked.

I appoint the said Harry Saunders Edwards sole Executor of this my Will In witness whereof I have hereto set my mark being unable to write this nineteenth day of May one thousand eight hundred and eighty three.

Signed by the above named Mary Prior, the Testatrix, as and for her Will in the presence of us together present with her at the same time who in her presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses the same having been first read and explained to the Testatrix who stated it carried out her wishes.
